SA Wehrabzeichen für Kriegsversehrte in Bronze by RZM M1/100 - Werner Redo of Saarlautern. Instituted October 8, 1943, the SA Military Badge for War Wounded was awarded to men over 18 years old, deemed unfit for service with a war injury, who completed repeated tests under medical supervision. Other men, who had a disability or were wounded in the war, yet still fit for service, could receive the badge if they had taken part in military training before the injury and had proven their readiness for action. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. The obverse depicts an upright vertical broad sword, in front of a mobile swastika, with a wolfs-angle rune on top of its grip, which is all surrounded by an eight-piece laurel leaf wreath. The full back reverse is maker marked: “RZM M1/100” and has a soldered-on black hinge, flat wire catch and coke bottle pin. It measures 2 5/16 inches tall by 1 13/ 16 inches wide. A rare award.
