Der Stahlhelm Abzeichen by W.D. - Wilhelm Deumer of Lüdenscheid. The Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten, was a WWI veterans’ organization, operating as a part of the Black Reichswehr, existing from December 25, 1918 to November 7, 1935. It is constructed out of a die stamped nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains black enamel paint work. The obverse features a M16 style helmet that is marked, in black, with an Iron Cross and “Der Stahlhelm” in gothic script. The edge is marked “W.D. Ges. Gesch.”. The hollow back reverse has a horizontally soldered on tombak pin. The pin continues to work well. The face measures 1 3/16 inches wide by 11/16 of an inch tall. A desirable maker.
