Commonwealth WWII - King George V Silver Jubilee Medal. Instituted May 6, 1935, the King George V Silver Jubilee Medal was awarded for community contribution as a personal souvenir by King George V to commemorate his Silver Jubilee. It is constructed out of a die struck silver base. The round shaped obverse features the left facing effigies of King George V and Queen Mary, crowned and robed, surrounded by “George V and Queen Mary May VI MCMXXXV”. The reverse features the “GRI” Royal Cypher beneath a royal crown FLANKED BY “May 6. 1910” (left) and “May 6. 1935” (right), surrounded by an ornate border. To the top is a decorative ball loop and ring which holds 4 ½ inches of maroon, blue and white ribbon. It measures 1 ¼ inches in diameter.
