Yom Kippur War (UNEFII Egypt-Israel) - United Nations Medal - 1973-79. UNEF II was established in October 1973 to supervise the ceasefire between Egyptian and Israeli forces and, following the conclusion of the agreements of January 18, 1974 and September 4, 1975, to supervise the redeployment of Egyptian and Israeli forces and to man and control the buffer zones established under those agreements. It is constructed out of die stamped brass that has been polished and covered in a lacquer coating. The round shaped obverse features the United Nations emblem, below “UN”. The reverse reads: “In the Service of Peace”. To the top is a ball loop and ring which holds the UNEFII Egypt-Israel, light blue, tan and dark blue ribbon. The award measures 1 3/8 inches in diameter.
