United Kingdom - The Italy Star
United Kingdom, Commonwealth, WWII - The Italy Star. Instituted May 1945, the Italy Star was awarded to those who served in the Italian Campaign from 1943 to 1945. It is constructed out of a die struck yellow copper zinc alloy base that has been bronze plated. The obverse features the Royal Cypher “GRI VI”, underneath a royal crown surrounded by “The Italy Star”, on a six-pointed star. The reverse is plain. The top has an integral eyelet and ring which holds 2 1/2 inches of red, white and green. The award measures 1 ½ inches wide by 1 ¾ inches tall.
