British 1907 Bayonet

A pattern 1907 bayonet with its scabbard. The unsheathed bayonet has an overall length of 56 cm (22"). Its contoured bird’s head pommel has a stud guide and stud, and a cleaning hole drilled straight through it. The age-darkened, scratched and lightly pitted, contoured wooden grips are fixed with two screws. The contoured metal cross guard has a circular muzzle guide to its upper extension. Its 43cm (17") blade has wide fullers extending most of its length. The reverse ricasso is stamped "1907," as well as, "SAN...". The blade has age dulled and light to moderate surface spotting. The Mk l scabbard, which is 45.5cm (18") long, is comprised of thick, blackened leather, whose vertical seam is to its reverse, with contoured metal fittings to its top and bottom. The fitting to the top has three rivets near and securing its mouthpiece, and, near its base, a staple fixing it to the body of the scabbard, obverse and reverse. An oval lug is to its obverse center. The fittings also have securing staples, and it tapers to its rounded base.
