Here we have a combat worn example of a M16 Helmet. The shell is constructed out of a stamped piece of steel sheet metal that has been green textured painted. The shell has a folded over edge, two separately applied air vents and three split rivets. The interior has three padded leather sections one of which has "CR Monark" written in red ink. It is dome stamped "E. 1 7 0". The back apron has "Lihothuti" written in black ink and right below that it is carved into the metal! The exterior continues to retain 90%+ of its camo paint! The shell is stamped W66 indicating that Hermann Weissenberger & Co. in Stuttgart-Cannstadt manufactured it. This company made M16 shells in sizes 66 and 68 for the war effort. It also has dome stamp E 4 5 on the top inside of the shell, which is an unidentified rolling mill. Size 66 is a nice large size that can accommodate liners from 58cm to 60cm A great piece! that is well marked.
