A 2nd Pattern Bruswick Rally Badge by RZM M1/17 - F. W. Assmann & Sohne of Lüdenscheid. The 1931 SA Braunschweig Treffen badge was originally designed as a day badge sold at the actual event. Hitler audaciously brought a larger contingent of SA to the event than was anticipated and dominated the event. As a commemoration, the badge was elevated to a “traditions” award after 1933 and was allowed to be worn by those who had taken part. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed, (the wash has been absorbed). The oval shaped obverse reads “S-A Treffen Braunschweig 17./18. Oktober 1931” on a smooth background surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie and has a 1927 pattern national eagle to the top. The full back reverse is maker marked: “RZM M1/17”. It also has a vertically crimped well working steel pin assembly. It measures 1 7/16 inches wide by 2 inches high.
