The Holy Grail for German Cross Collectors! Earliest 10 Rivet - Deutsches Kreuz in Gold by Deschler & Sohn of München. The Gold German Cross was awarded to military personnel to recognize repeated acts (6-8) of bravery or exceptional command in combat. It is constructed out of a die struck, five-piece construction, with a; tombak base, white core, silver washed tombak wreath and red and black enamel work. The obverse features a large centrally placed raised black enamel mobile swastika, on a smooth white/silver aluminum base, which is surrounded by a gilded tombak laurel leaf and ribbon wreath that is marked “1941” to the bottom and lies on a red enamel base. This is all on a two-piece backend and silvered eight-point sunburst pattern backing. The full back reverse correctly shows; 10 tombak rivets, a soldered on rectangular catch, soldered on sheet metal hinge and a short pin. It shows beautiful age patina. The enamel shows some damage. It measures 2 7/16 inches wide and tall. It weighs 67 grams. For those of you who don’t know this is the very first DKiG production model.
