Preußen Goldenes Militär-Verdienstkreuz. This "spangestuck" unmarked type was not an official issue and was intended for a medal bar and was likely made post WWI. The Prussian Golden Military Merit Cross was the highest bravery award of the Kingdom of Prussia for non-commissioned officers and enlisted soldiers. It is constructed out of a gilt alloy. The obverse features a pattée style cross with a centrally placed royal monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm I as King of Prussia. The reverse reads “Kriegs Verdienst” above a laurel and berry cluster tied together with a ribbon. On that same style cross. The top features a soldered-on loop and ring which holds a standard 1914 EKII ribbon. The cross measures 39mm square. This piece was made after the war.
