Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Präsentation Widmung by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. This piece was specially made for presentation to a von Geitner, from the Carl Eickhorn factory in Solingen. While no one can say with absolute certainty, it is possible the recipient was: Kurt Ritter von Geitner, World War II Gravstone, Drake University Digital Collections. Further research would be required to specifically attribute the identity of the recipient. The blade has the bookend etched panels. The obverse features the “Alles für Deutschland” motto and the reverse inscription reads: “In Treuer Kameradschaft v. Geitner”. The maker mark is the correct small double oval serrated tail “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” mark as seen on inscribed/presentation pieces. Some crossgrain remains, the tip comes to a perfect point and the blade ridge to crossguard fit is also perfect. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It shows water/oxidization pitting/staining throughout that has been cleaned up in an attempt to stop any further deterioration. The steel based brown anodized scabbard is in excellent condition. It has the typical oxidization spotting throughout and remains completely dent free. The scabbard fittings are solid nickel-silver based. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The crossguard is bench marked “4”. This piece is not gau stamped, which further indicates it was presented and not issued. The crossguard / grip fits are perfect. Wow did I forget to mention how awesome this grip is… The Tiger Striped grip provides wonderful dark and light contrasting colors. Clearly a choice piece of wood for a presented dagger. It has the odd pressure mark yet no cracks, chips or flakes. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 99% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. An honorary presentation dagger with an incredible. A very rare one one-of-a-kind dagger...
