Bavarian Kavallerie-Pallasch M.1891. You've got to love these imperial pieces! The 31 inch triple etched with blued pannels, single fuller, plated blade looks good! The etch depicts cavalry themes and "Reiter Regiment No 17". To the spine we have a leaf motif. The plating shows some lifting and oxidization towards the tip. The fit is tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+. The scabbard is steel based and anodized. It has oxidization spotting towards the drag and some dents. The scabbard with only one suspension ring as per 1908 regulations. The basket hilt is constructed out of a solid nickel-silver base. The basket hand guard remains damage-free. The handguard bears the Bavarian lion with sword and shield with the Bavarian "lozenge pattern" or "Rautenmuster". The black celluloid grip has a single mark where the folding basket has cut into it. Overall it is a good looking private purchase sword that may just complete your collection.
