This SS Degen was acquired in Florida from a veteran estate. Stainless steel “D” guard with separate upper and lower ferrules. The “D” guard is completely textbook, with a teardrop quillon end. Lower ferrule has fine standing oak leaves separated by acorns. As is the case with the Dachau versions there is no background darkening to this design. Tang nut is a standard, nickel-plated steel type. The reverse spine plate is also nickel-plated steel. Grip is a fine ebony beauty, being in near perfect condition (minor chip above runes). This ebony has outstanding tight nickel wire. Grip button is burnished stainless steel with raised polished SS runes within and outer border rim. Scabbard of this Degen is slimmer type normally encountered on these swords. Stainless steel upper scabbard mount features the Wotan's Knot. Lower mount is conventional style which still has the darkening in its decorative lines. Scabbard shell is straight throughout and has excellent original paint (95%) exhibiting minor spidering and wear. Unmarked blade remains in excellent condition retaining standard Dachau type brown leather washer. A nice Dachau Degen here, one that would fit well into any SS collection. Overall length ca 43 inches.
