A Diplomatisches Schirmmütze für Offiziere by Max Drechsler of München. It is constructed out of black-blue doe skin wool, with silver aluminum wire piping. Attached to the obverse is a silver aluminum/flatwire bullion Diplomatic cap eagle (it looks purple in the photos but that is the cameras overexposure) and a silver aluminum/flatwire, black and red rayon, bullion cockade and wreath. To each side is a peened on multi-piece aluminum/steel based silver washed pebbled side buttons that hold the silver interwoven bullion chin cord in place. There is a black lacquered visor peak (with three 1mm hits) with a cross hatched tan cream underside. The interior is gorgeous. It features a light pearl leather sweatband that has vent holes to the forehead and a bowtie ribbon to the back. The base of the interior has a pearl silk lining under a clear diamond moisture shield over the manufacturers logo which reads, in silver foil: “Max Drechsler München 2 Dachauerstr. 25”. It is in unissued condition. The exterior has four moth nips, one that is a size of a dime. A nice rare visor missing from most collections!
