A Rare & Desirable, Exclamation Mark “!” - Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Jacobs & Co. of Solingen. There is talk about these unique motted pieces being specially presented or attributed to an elite SS unit. However, there is no documentation that supports this, it is only speculation. The blade on this one looks wonderful! The special acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue!” motto and “Jacobs and Co. Solingen-Gräfrath” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The full crossgrain is stunning as you shine it in the light! The blade is perfectly seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates NM. It shows runner marks, surface scratches and age spotting throughout. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks excellent! It continues to remain completely dent free! It continues to retain 90% of its original factory lacquered finish. The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well. All four scabbard screws remain intact and the ball holds a round profile with a wee bruise. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The black died hardwood grip is in wonderful condition. There are a few flakes to the very top and some pressure marks throughout. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit! This one comes with a desirable vertical hanger. For those of you who don’t know, an early Exclamation Mark Jacobs is the most desirable!
