Abzeichen 1. Mai 1936 by Albert Ihne Lüdenscheid. Introduced in 1933, the NSDAP declared May 1st the “Day of National Work” as an official state holiday to celebrate laborers and the working classes. It is constructed out of a die struck aluminum-alloy base that has been silver washed. The round shaped obverse depicts an old style plow, riveting hammer and downward pointing broad sword behind a German national eagle and reads “1. Mai 1936” (top left) along with a small “RK” (bottom left). The reverse shows a full back and a horizontally crimped on well working steel pin. It is also maker marked “Albert Ihne Lüdenscheid”. It measures 1 3/8 in diameter. Another great May Day Tinnie for your collection!
