A French Imperial Civil Decoration of the Association of the Railway Christians. The Association was established in 1919 and operated as part of the French Confederation of Christian Workers – a syndicate whose members shared the Catholic Christian faith. It is constructed out of a die stamped brass base that has been gold gilded and contains white, blue and red translucent enamel work. The obverse features the flaming Sacred Heart of Jesus above a white Maltese style cross above four French flags on poles, two to either side, all underneath a gold steam engine train. The semi-hollow reverse is gold. To the top is a soldered-on loop and ring which holds a blue, red and white rayon ribbon. To the top is the appropriate black painted safety pin. The award measures 1 7/16 inches wide and tall. A unique piece!
