Imperial Army Belt Buckle

Preußen - Heer Koppelschloß - pre-1895. It is constructed out of a two-piece die stamped brass base that has been gold gilded. The obverse roundel depicts an imperial crown a smooth round background. The crown is above a half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: “Gott Mit Uns” (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined background which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse shows two solder marks where the roundel has is attached, an integral catch and a brass pin/post, sleeve and prongs assembly. Nice age patina. The buckle measures 2 1/2 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A nice example!
