Kreigsmarine Gneisenau Divisionsabzeichen by Fleck u. Sohn of Hamburg. Gneisenau was a German capital ship, alternatively described as a battleship and battlecruiser, of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. She was the second vessel of her class, which included one other ship, Scharnhorst. This would have been worn by its members on the left side of their visor cap. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that contains multi-colored enamel work. The shield shaped obverse features the Crest of the Battlecruiser Gneisenau. The full back reverse is maker marked: “Fleck Hamburg” and features a soldered on nickel-silver round plate that holds a well working pin assembly. This piece was previously sold by H. Weitze. It measures 15/16 of an inch wide by 1 1/8 inches tall. A very rare piece you won’t want to let go by you!
