Diplomatic Officials Dagger by Alcoso

A Model 1939 Diplomatic Officials Dagger (Dolch für Staatsbeamte) by Alcoso - Alexander Coppel of Solingen. The blade on this one is beautiful! The crossgrain is stunning, easily visible from the perfectly pointed tip all the way to the tightly secured hilt. The acid etched “ACS Alcoso Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. The blade rates NM. It shows minor spotting and surface scratches throughout along with one hit to the cutting edge. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard has beautifully patinaed with time. It shows decorative randomly pebbled panels with two oak leaf and acorn bands. The edges show the typical bubbling to the finish and it continues to hold both of its throat retaining screws and remains completely dent free. The brass based nickel-silver plated hilt is gorgeous. The diplomatic eagle crossguard is wonderfully portrayed with the fierce head, sharp talons and burnished background that make those details pop right out at you. The prominent eagle head pommel is just as wonderful. The mother-of-pearl grip plates are perfect! The pommel cap has the odd scratch which is quite typical. It shows wonderful patina throughout. This is one of the most elegant dress daggers of the Third Reich era. Now is your opportunity to own one of, if not, the nicest one on the market today.
