Ok guys this one was purchased several years back from Bill Shea, rather than redescribe this thing all over again I'll use Bill's description but add my comments afterwards: Bill's text follows: M-014a Cased German Cross in Gold by Juncker This example, in gold, was awarded for outstanding achievement and heroism in combat. It is produced in what is know as ?cupal?, which is a lightweight composite material consisting of aluminum and copper. It displays all the characteristics well known to Juncker manufacture, including the five rivets on the reverse (four recessed, while the centre one is domed). The enamel work is sound, with no visible damage, with a black mobile swastika, outlined in silver, superimposed over a white background. The white background has somewhat toned to a darker hue, and has a few darker spots. The gold wreath is flawless, and the red ring underneath it is near excellent. The starburst is magnificent with all of the burnishing intact; this makes the look very appealing. The unmarked reverse has a vertically mounted pin, which is hinged at the top and appears to be slightly bent. It tapers down from the top to a blunt point. The reverse is well toned, also. There is considerable discoloration to the reverse but no damage. Obviously this does not show when on a tunic or displayed in the case. The black pebbled presentation case is a two-piece hinged construction fastened by a spring tension button. There is minor wear with two tiny chips in the upper lid. The interior features a white satin upper, with a black velvet lower, that displays minor wear. Overall, a near excellent example, of scarce anufacture, of this highly desirable award! As through as Bill is, I'm even more anal about this stuff! Please note that the cardboard frame around the lower left of the bottom case flocking is missing a section. I've clearly shown this. Similar example is shown in Dietrich's reference pg 166. This one is back to me on trade and I'm selling for hundreds less than Bill did several years ago!
