A Rare Water Protection Police Dagger with Emblem by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. The acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one shows honest age. The etched panels are clear but there is definitely fading from cleaning. The stamped "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark looks good. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade on this one rates an Exc. The textbook tan felt buffer pad is intact. The lightning bold style scabbard is brass based and gold gilded. It depicts nice details especially with the hand enhancing towards the tip. Much gilt remains. There are small hits and dents from honest wear. Both throat retaining screws remain intact. The button continues to work well. The crossguard and pommel are brass based and gold gilded. The fouled anchors to the crossguard and the hand enhanced pommel are beautifully detailed! The grip is wood based and covered in fine blue leather. There are scuffs and wear to the high areas, (exactly what you want to see on an original example. The brass double twisted wire wrap remains tightly intact! To the obverse is a pined police insignia. It moves ever so slightly which it exactly what you want to see. Finishing this is an original portepee that has always been on there!
