Oxidised silver medal in the form of a stylised spearhead, on laterally-pierced cylinder suspension; the face decorated with orchid and chrysanthemum blossoms, the Imperial flowers of Manchukuo and Japan, a scroll imposed at the base inscribed ‘I Te I Hsin’ (One in virtue and in spirit), describing the union of Japan and Manchukuo (from the Japanese perspective); the reverse inscribed with characters meaning ‘Kang Teh 2nd Year, Manchukuo Empire, Emperor’s visit to Japan Commemorative Medal, 4th Month, 6th Day’; age-toned; on original ribbon in original fitted case of issue. The medal was instituted by Imperial Edict on 21 September 1935 to commemorate the visit of the Manchukuo puppet emperor Pu Yi to Japan in April 1935.
