A Kriegsmarine U-Bootkriegsabzeichen in Issue Packet by Wilhelm Deumer of Lüdenscheid. The Navy U-Boat War Badge was awarded to those who proved themselves with at least two or more sorties against the enemy, exceptions may be made in the case of a wounded crew member. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been gold gilded and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The oval shaped obverse depicts a U-Boat that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is below a Kriegsmarine eagle with outstretched wings clutching a swastika in its talons. The full back reverse displays a soldered on rectangular plate tombak block hinge, soldered on round plate c-shaped catch and coke bottle pin. The details throughout the U-boat, eagle and wreath look excellent and the lacquer holds up the gilding so it shines just right! It measures approximately 1 7/8 inches wide by 1 ½ inches tall. It comes housed in its original issue packet. The packet is constructed out of a glued together paper. The obverse reads, in black ink: “Unterseeboot-Kriesabzeichen”. The reverse reads, in black: “Wilhelm Deumer Lüdenscheid” surrounded by a thin rectangular border. It measures 5 1/16 inches long by 3 5/16 inches wide. comes with a COA from Militaria-Berlin. A very rare set that is likely not going to up for sale again in your lifetime!
