Cased 25 Year NSDAP Long Service by W. Deumer

An extremely rare cased Dienstauszeichnung der NSDAP 3.Stufe Gold by (RZM M11/19) Wilhelm Deumer of Lüdenscheid. The RZM M11/ series is specific for NSDAP Long Service awards. This is not “19” (Wiedmann) as Präsidialkanzlei (PKZ) numbers were not used on NSDAP long service awards. The III Stage NSDAP Long Service in Gold, was instituted April 2nd 1939, and was awarded after 25 years of long-standing and faithful work in the service of the NSDAP. It is constructed out of a buntmetall base that has been gold gilded and contains white enamel work and is finished in a protective lacquered coating. The obverse features a gold eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons in front of an oak leaf wreathe that is tied together at the bottom in front of a white pattée style cross that is surrounded by a gold ribbed/beaded row and a flat outlying border, that has sun ray emanating out of the corners. The reverse reads: “Treue für Führer und Volk” (Loyalty for the Leader and the People), to the center and is surrounded by that same wreath, cross and rays. To the top is an integral loop and “19” maker marked ring. Accompanying the ring is 9 inches of the appropriate red, white and gold rayon ribbon. The award and ribbon are housed in its original issue case. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated grained red leather (Lederimitat). To the front is a gilded steel push button. To the back is a gilded steel, staggered, piano hinge. To the very top is a pressed gilded German National Eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. The interior-bottom of the case is constructed out of a pressed cardboard base that is covered in an off-white fibrous felt material that outlines the award and place for the ribbon. There is a white cardboard exterior border to the bottom. The interior top is constructed out of a silk material and has an underlying pad. The exterior shows wear to the edges/corners and some moisture rings to the top. The push button and hinge continue to work well. The case measures approximately 3 1/8 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches deep and ¾ of an inch thick. A thin, “19” maker marked NSDAP 25 Year Long Service is the most desirable variation.
