A great Eickhorn Student NPEA with the correct configuration! The blade on this one is an excellent example! The acid etched Eickhorn specific "Mehr sein als scheinen." (Be more than you appear to be.) motto and over-the-shoulder "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to an excellent point. The crossgrain on this piece looks great and can easily been seen from hilt to tip! The blade rates NM! It shows the common runner marks and surface scratching throughout. The buffer pad is lost to time. The olive painted scabbard looks excellent! It shows minor age crazing and paint loss, yet it continues to retain 99% paint coverage and remains completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw remains intact and the ball remains perfectly round and magnetic! The stud is correctly shaped and correctly unmarked. The zinc plated crossguards look good with some lifting! They show the common bubbling towards the edges of the grip yet continue to retain 95% plating coverage! The brown hardwood grip is in beautiful condition displaying cool graining to the wood! It has the common pressure marks throughout, yet no cracks, chips, splits or flakes! It has the correct aluminum eagle that is perfectly inset in the grip and shows excellent detail! This is exactly as received from the Vet's family. The soldiers name was Kenton Grey Berkley, he was in the first wave on Omaha Beach in Normandy France, and sadly, he passed away this past February. A wonderful example of a rare dagger missing from most collections!
