Army Feldgendarmerie Gorget

Here we have a Heer Military Police Feldgendarmerie Gorget! This half-moon shaped, multi-piece gorget is made of a stamped sheet metal and alloy construction that has been silver washed and contains luminous yellow and dark matte grey paint. The obverse displays a centrally placed Heer eagle, with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above a grey bannered "Feldgendarmerie" and below two pebbled buttons. The eagle, buttons and banner script all have a luminous yellow paint, allowing them to glow in the dark for identification at night. And yes, to this day it continues to glow in the dark. The reverse of the gorget still has most of its protective, cut-out, cardboard backing and displays two brazed tabs. The backing is old a cracked and wants to break off, two small pieces did break off and I glued them back. The gorget comes complete with its matte silver washed, forty-two link, magnetic sheet metal suspension chain. It shows minor oxidization to the edges of the banner and some wear but no dents. 95% of the paint remains intact. It measures roughly 16.5cm x 7.5cm. A great display item, in good condition!
