These big heavy Imperial swords changed little through the 3rd Reich and were worn right up through to 1942. The early blade on this piece looks great! It has a nice bright finish with a solid fit. There is no maker mark, The blade rates Exc++. It has some rough scuffs and surface scratches throughout but no nail catchers. The green felt buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It has some surface scratches and honest wear throughout but no dents. It continues to hold 99% paint coverage. Both throat retaining screws remain intact. The suspension ring is loose unlike the fixed examples normally seen on the very early Imperial era pieces. The steel based, nickel plated hilt shows some wear and a wee bit of plating loss, say 99% remains intact. The black celluloid grip remains in excellent condition. The triple brass wire wrap continues to be tightly intact and in place, looking very nice. The tang is correctly peened over at the top of the hilt. A fine example.
