Another rare example measuring approx. 20" in length! The acid etched crown over fouled anchor with sailing ship blade on this one is 13.5" long. There's age and spotting but perhaps you can forgive that given the age. The side is stamped with the words, "A' Luneberg Kiel" a Kiel uniform distributor. The tip has some darkening that you could polish out. It comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade on this one rates an VG/Exc. The lightning bolt style scabbard is brass based with figure eight style scabbard bands. It depicts nice details especially with the hand enhancing towards the chape. There are some small dents and hits. One throat retaining screw remains intact. The button continues to work well and secures the scabbard to the hilt. The crossguard and pommel are brass based. The fouled anchors to the crossguard. the quillions are both straight. Above it all is a proudly perched closed heraldic crown. It has 8 vertically standing shields alternating between crosses and Prussian eagles. The very top has an Imperial orb. BTW, the closed finial dates this example between 1890 and 1895 when the open pommels were introduced. The grip is bone based with a hairline to the side. It continues to remain in wonderful shape! No chips or splits! There was never any brass wire applied to this. A solid piece!
