German WWII > Belt Buckles > Army >
The rectangular shaped buckle is constructed of a die struck aluminum base. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed closed winged Heer eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a rough round background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The buckle measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. Good detail remains despite the period wear. There is remnants of a leather tab remaining. The buckle is mated to a heavy black leather belt. One end has been folded over and stitched over a perfectly matching steel green painted catch. It is maker marked L&F. The belt measures approximately 36 inches long. The leather is in great condition just the common age wear. A great set up that is well marked!
