A fine Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen here! The Silver Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to foot infantrymen who had taken part in combat action on different days and met the required award criteria. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse correctly displays a soldered on round plate buntmetall round wire catch, soldered on steel sheet metal hinge and steel round wire pin. The catch is broken. The details continue to display wonderfully! It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. See page 140 of Sascha Weber's "The Infantry Assault Badges". Cool!
