Service Medal of the Order of St John

It was given to those that have provided a requisite number or years in service to the Order of St John. It is constructed out of a cupro-nickel base that has been rhodium plated. The round shaped obverse features the profile of Queen Victoria surrounded by "Victoria + D + G + Britt + Reg + F + D + Ind + Imp". The reverse features an encircled; St Edward's Crown, the shield of Great Britain, two icons of the Order of St John in England, and the cipher bearing the feathers of the Price of Wales, with flowers and leaves to the edges. This is all surrounded by "Magnus - Prioratus - Ordinis - Hospitalis - Sancti - Johannis - Jerusalem - in - Anglia" (Grand Priory of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England). To the top is a swivel ring and loop which holds 6 inches of black and white ribbon. The edge is named "26861. Cpl. E. Wood. No 6015 S. J. A. G. 1941". It measures approximately 1 12/ inches wide.
