Personalized Early SA Dagger by F. Herder

I've seen a mark like this before, The Keys of Heaven! The bright blade on this one looks good! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "F. Herder Solingen" maker mark are both nicely executed! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates Exc+. It has been cleaned and re-crossgrained. It also shows age clouding and the commonly seen surface scratches throughout. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks great! It continues to retain 2/3 of its original factory lacquer! It shows evidence of period wear and one pressure mark to the reverse. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards perfectly. The top one is unique in that it has a personalization on it! It very well could have been a gift to a friend of the veteran who brought it home. It reads: "From Mike McDonald / To Buddy Brennan". The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "P" (Pommern). The brown hardwood grip looks good. It shows pressure marks throughout but that's it. No chips, cracks or flakes! The solid nickel eagle retains nice details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. One with a story I'm sure!
