A rare maker on this one! It rates 9 out of 10 for rarity on McSaar's SA rarity rating list! The blade on this one looks good. The "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "Otto Simon Steinbach Kr.M." maker mark are both beautifully executed! The crossgrain shines quite nicely in the light, running the full length of the blade. The fit and tip are both perfect as well! The blade rates Exc++. It has the commonly seen surface scratches along with age grey throughout. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard has oxidization spotting throughout. It continues to remain dent free! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. They show a few scratches throughout. The ball continues to remain perfectly round all four screws continue to remain intact! The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards match the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "BO" (Bayerische Ostmark). The smooth brown grained hardwood grip is in nice shape. It has the odd pressure mark / scratch throughout along with one flake to the top. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 95% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A nice example by a rare maker!
