Early NSKK Dagger by Gustav Wirth

A nice looking piece with a rare maker mark! This one rates 9 out of 10 on McSaars SA rarity rating list! The blade on this one is looks great. The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "W Gustav Wirth Solingen Grafrath" are crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain shines quite nicely in the light and can be seen the full length of the blade. The fit and tip are both perfect as well! The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It has the commonly seen surface scratches, age spotting/grey throughout along with the slightest pitting just below the maker mark. The steel based, black painted scabbard is looks great. It was likely painted after the war. It remains completely dent free. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. The ball has a small push to the bottom. All four screws remain intact (I believe the top two are replacements). There is also a small crack to the top fitting. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "Nm" (Nordmark). The solid nickel crossguards match the scabbard fittings in condition, color and age patina. The brown hardwood grip is in decent condition. There is a crack to the reverse along with the common pressure marks throughout. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 97%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A good looking piece, a rare maker and all at a good looking price!
