McSarr rates this maker 10 out of 10 for rarity! The blade on this one looks excellent! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "August Rother Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates a solid Exc++/NM. It shows the commonly seen age grey/spotting and surface scratches throughout. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks wonderful! It only shows evidence of period wear yet retains 60% of its original factory lacquer! There is one area of pressure marks to the reverse. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are nicely patinaed matching the crossguards in color and wear. The ball has one dent to the bottom and all four screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "Wf" (Westfallen). The brown hardwood grip looks great, just the common pressure marks throughout. No cracks, flakes or chips! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A great early SA dagger! One that would fit in perfectly with your collection!
