General Assault Badge

Here we have a General Assault Badge by Unknown Maker #6. It is made of a die struck, zinc base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a closed winged eagle, clutching a swastika within its talons, above a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet. This is then all surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath. The full back reverse shows; a round plate round wire catch, sheet metal hinge and round wire pin. It retains great detail! See page 262 of "German Awards of WWII" by Heukemes. Nice piece!
