Well here's a nice piece direct from the Veteran family by one of my favorite makers! The blade on this one has some age spotting, I have not cleaned it other than to remove a layer of cosmoline that it was covered with when it landed. Lots of crossgrain remains! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The dark acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! The blade rates a solid Exc+/Exc++. The brown anodized scabbard looks excellent and it still retains lots of its original factory lacquer! There are no dents. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are near perfect with a small bruise to the very bottom of the ball. It still retains the original shape. All four screws remain intact and unturned. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards are in near perfect condition, matching the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped "He". The grip / crossguard fits are perfect! The light brown hardwood grip looks awesome with a few normal pressure marks but no chips, cracks or splits! The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed with a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel. A nice example that has never been taken apart!
