Early Paul Weyersburg Luftwaffe Sword

Here's a salt piece. Normally I send these away to be releathered then charge $300 more for them, but I just like the look of this one. Thisd is exactly how most Vet purchased stuff looks like! The plated blade on this one rates Exc+. There is some minor age some scuffs and one nail catcher I could find. The fit is nice and snug and it has a beautifully executed Paul Weyersberg maker mark, above the correctly positioned waffen inspection stamp! The leather buffer pad is lost to time. The blue, pebbled, leather scabbard body remains in good condition with 97% leather coverage! It has a few small pressure marks throughout and a bit of leather loss towards the lower fitting at the seam! The scabbard fittings remain dent free and have beautifully patinaed with age matching the hilt in color and wear. One screw is missing. The upper throat is numbered. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hilt. The hilt fittings are solid nickel with separately inserted brass swastikas. This method of creating the golden swastikas was quickly abandon for faster less labor intensive methods. The pommel looks great with decorative hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The grip leather has a few light scuffs along with leather loss as shown, yes I could apply some blue show polish to make this less visible but I leave this as is. Both springy brass twisted grip wires remain intact. Overall a beautifully aged piece that demonstrates all the quality one comes to expect from an early example! Impossible to find an early Luft sword anymore under $1000.
