A Dolch für Führer der Reichsbahn-Wasserschutzpolizei by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Well this is THE rarest German Third Reich production piece made! It was specifically made for a small association of police who would be stationed at railway barges/ferries that shuttled railway cars between the German and Danish border. The blade on this piece is a real screamer! The crossgrain is stunning and runs the full length of the blade. The dark and crisp, acid etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. With a perfect tip this one rates in at Mint-. It has a loose fit and two wee runner spots. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is a beautiful, dent-free, steel based and nickel-silver plated example. The scabbard body shows a nicely details with a random pebbled body and two bands that have four horizontal lines running through them. The back side original throat retaining screw remains intact and unturned. The scabbard snugly fits up against the hilt. The crossguard is alloy based and thickly nickel-silver plated. It is Eickhorn’s 4th pattern design and is beautifully detailed throughout the eagles head, chest, wings, and wreathed swastika. The alloy based two piece nickel-silver plated pommel is quite unique with its oval shape and top side sun wheel swastika. The black trylon grip looks excellent! It has a few scuffs and three 1mm cracks to the top. It also has a loose fit. The pommel needs a wee turn to snug it up but the pommel is frozen in place and I dare not force it. The grip is set off with a railway ferrule and pommel cap. All of the exterior components match in patina, age and color. A wonderful example of a dagger that cannot be matched in its rarity!
