Rare, rare, rare! I only sell about one a year! The silver German Cross was awarded to non-combatants. The German Cross is known by collectors today to be one of, if not the most, stunning and desirable award to have in their collection! Look at this thing, 10x more work in this than an RK! It consists of a die struck, 5 piece construction, made of a; light cupal base, white aluminum core, silver frosted tombak wreath, along with red and black enamel work. The obverse features a large centrally placed black enamel mobile swastika, on a white/silver aluminum base, which is then surrounded by a silver frosted tombak wreath that is marked ?1941? to the bottom and lies on a red enamel base. This is all then on a two piece backend and silvered eight point sunburst pattern backing. The reverse shows a full silvered back and correctly displays: four rivets, a soldered C-shaped catch, soldered sheet metal hinge (which are both on a base plate), and a sturdy pin that is maker marked ?20" (C.F. Zimmermann)! The cross features the correct: height, width, weight and die flaws. The swastika's enamel is near perfect! The white aluminum base has some pebbling throughout and provides a beautiful contrast to the black swastika. The wreath looks great as it retains wonderful silver frosting with polished highlights! Overall it is in great condition with excellent details and enamel work! This piece is hard to find and will truly be a prized position for your collection!
