This is a US Army Air Corps aircraft mechanic proficiency badge. As issued during WWII. It is made of a die struck sterling construction. The obverse features a rotary plane engine that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath. A single attachment is found at the bottom, that is held by a piece of black thread. It reads "AP Mechanic". The reverse shows a well working pin. To each attachment is ?Sterling?. A nicely patinaed example!
