SS and Police
 SW-127 Eickhorn Police Officer
Degan Here's one that's never been in a collection and
sent in from a Kansas family. When it landed I was forced to clean the
blade, there was old stuck-on cosmoline on it and I wanted you to know
what you were getting. The blade rates Exc++ having a couple age dots
that I have taken care to clearly show you. They are minor and not
distracting. There are no nicks or sharpening and it's got that nice matt
finish. The tip is quite original. The blade is marked with the
mid-period Eickhorn stamped maker mark. The original brown
leather buffer pad is intact. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent
free. It has age crazing and some oxidizing. I would say better than 97%
of the paint is intact. The upper fitting is SS proofed to
the throat and the sides are factory burnished to the background.
It's secured by 2 unbuggered dome-head screws. The lower fitting is
undamaged and again secured with domehead screws. The wire wrapped grip is
in good shape sporting the correct large officer size police
insignia. There is a small flake just above the right wing of the
insignia, and yes, I'm being anal here. The back strap is a black
painted version. The cast ferrule is well
detailed showing hand finishing to the acorns and oak leaves. Look at the
small details here guys, see the drilled tip at the end of the quillion?
Gotta love it! Ok, finally, this is a completely unplayed with example, a
virgin so to speak. It's never been apart or cleaned, (other than the
blade cosmoline and wiping down the scabbard). I only clean enough so you
know what you are buying. Believe me, I have returned home from shows to
remove the grease from a blade only to find to my disappointment the
cosmoline was there to hide problems! I don't want you guys to have to
learn the hard way like me. Anyways, I digress, this thing is nicely
patinaed with that yellow/brown stuff that only comes from years. I
know it will clean up real nice if you want to do it. Sure I could squeeze
a few more bucks outta this with a tube of semichrome and some elbow
grease but I prefer these the way they are, if you choose to clean
them you have that option! A real nice out of the wood work example
you will be pleased with! Exc++ $1195 HOLD(js)
 SW-114 WKC Police NCO Degan
A nice degan in from an advanced collector. They are not always this way
but this one is completely textbook. The blade rates Exc+ having some
minor age and some nicks to the cutting edge. It's got no sharpening and a nice matt
finish. The tip is quite original. The blade is marked to the
obverse with the stamped knight's head logo over the letters WKC. I
just dug up a rough but original brown
leather buffer pad and slid it on. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent
free. It has age crazing and some oxidizing. I would say better than 97%
of the paint is intact. As was the practice of WKC they did not SS
proof their scabbards or hilts rather chose to add a large SS stamp to the
reverse of the blade. See Witty's reference pg 489. If you ever see a WKC
sword SS proofed any other way, well, look at it hard!! Nough said. The
upper fitting is factory burnished to the background.
It's secured by 2 unbuggered dome-head screws. The grip is
in good shape sporting the correct small alunimum police
insignia. There are no chips or cracks. The cast ferrule is well detailed
showing hand finishing to the acorns and oak leaves. Finally as we often
find with these degans the wood runners no longer are tight and the sword
is a bit loose in the scabbard. Not a problem but thought I should mention
it. Exc+/Exc++ $895 HOILD(jb)
 SW-113 Unit Marked SS
NCO Degan Here's a very good example out of an old
collection. The blade rates Exc++ having just the mildest of age
about the riccasso. There is no damage and the tip is quite
original. The blade is not maker marked however it is unit
marked "1/SSG 19". The original buffer is intact. The black enamel
painted scabbard has some dents towards the tip. There is also paint
loss and some oxidizing down from the hanger fitting. It has
age crazing and the paint is 94%. The plated fittings on this whole
sword show even patina and good finish.. The upper fitting is shows
some burnish to the background and is SS proofed. It is also marked
with a matching unit mark same as the blade. It's secured by 2 unbuggered
domehead screws. Nice undamaged grip with the correct number of
rings. The D-guard has nicely patinaed with a dull matte
finish. There is some plating loss to the hilt but overall the whole
thing is matching in wear and age. Finally the pommel nut has the correct
cast runes in place, It appears to be unturned. Exc+ $1995 HOLD(pie)
 SW-109 Gilt Paul Weyersberg Dovehead
Engraved & Personalized Here is a top quality piece
that is perfect for the collector who demands the best. Illustrated on pg
130 of Angolia's reference it does vary slightly in that this one is
way better!! The purchaser opted for an extra cost etch, again this can
be seen on pg 41. The plated blade rates Mint- being bright
and clean with no plating loss. The frosted background to the etch is
perfect. Everything is crisp and perfectly executed. The blade is etched
with the double oval maker mark. The black enamel painted scabbard is
dent-free. It has good paint with several minor scratches, say the
paint is better than 97%. I love the hilt!! This is a solid brass
example with hand enhanced details exhibiting outstanding detail and
workmanship. Look at the eagles wings! Look at the dots that are hand
hammered all over the back-strap and obverse of the languet!! Best of all
the reverse is Jeweler engraved "GS". Take a second and see the wee lines
inside the letters? You never find this kind of detail on anything made
today!! The "P" guard has deeply cast acorns and oak leaves, with
again hand-work. The back-strap continues this theme. The obverse languet
features a raised-out long-winged political-style eagle. The grip is black
celluloid and is in perfect shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped
with triple brass wire, the center of which is the springy
type. A beauty design with a ton of factory gilt and expensive period
options! Exc++ $2470 HOLD(bm)
 SW-145 Interesting Eickhorn Ordinance Dovehead
This is an early quality sword that is profusely marked. The plated
blade rates Exc+ having a bit of age the worse of which is to the mid
potion of the obverse. There are a couple nicks to the cutting edge as
well. I have tried to show you the worse possible view. The blade is
stamped with the
very early double oval maker mark. The spine of the blade is waffen
inspection stamped and separately marked with a "3" The black anodized scabbard has
a very small impression about 2" down from the ring to the obverse that
you will find with your fingers. Other than that the finish is very good.
The scabbard is inspection marked no less than 3 times, To the body, the
drag and the throat is as well. Just below the throat the unit is
designated at "C.E/G" and to the other side "14286". The hilt is an early
brass with the
tang secured with a spanner nut. The entire hilt is plain as we usually
see on EM/NCO examples. The grip is black celluloid and is in perfect
shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped with double brass
wire. There is also a leather finger loop on this example. Again the
hilt is an interesting study being profusely inspection stamped again, to
the spanner nut, the ferule, the back-strap and twice under the
crossguard!! This thing was inspected to death! Again under the crossguard
the unit is designated matching the scabbard but with the number, "14219"
being off a few digits. Almost certainly this was a period switch as you
would never find such close numbers today. this was a unit owned sword and
lent out to the EM's and NCO's for dress occasions. as often we see such
switches took place. An interesting study! Exc++ $295
 SW-110 Eickhorn EM/NCO Dovehead with
Optional Etch Pattern Here is a top quality piece that
has an etch dedicated to a Calvary unit! Seems they leaned towards
the etched
versions of these swords. Illustrated on pg 75 of Angolia's
reference this one is known as pattern 189. The purchaser opted for an
extra cost etch, again this can be seen on pg 42. The plated
blade rates Mint- being bright and clean with no plating loss. The frosted
background to the etch is perfect. "Kavallerie Regt. Nr. 10 Torgau".
Everything is crisp and perfectly executed. The blade is etched with the
mid-period maker mark. The black enamel painted scabbard has some
small hits to the lower leading edge. It has good paint
with several minor scratches and some paint loss, say the paint is
better than 97%. The hilt is a nickel example with the
tang peaned over on the top. The entire hilt is plain as we usually
see on EM examples. The grip is black celluloid and is in perfect
shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped with triple aluminum
wire. Finishing the piece is an original portepee. A nice
example with a detailed etch. Exc++ $1550
SW-44 The Ultimate Dovehead by Herder!
Herder made some beautiful swords in the period, this one is one of
the most ornate! Nice original example in brass. A similar hilt
design is illustrated in the Angolia Sword Book on Page 85. The hilt is
burnished brass exhibiting outstanding detail and
workmanship. The "P" guard has finely detailed swirls. The back-strap
again is well detailed, the more you look the more you see! Contains a
gorgeous and ornate center panel design. The obverse languet features a
"raised-out open-winged eagle" exhibiting fine detail. The ferrule is
integrated into the hilt! The grip is black celluloid and is in perfect
condition being wrapped with double wire wrap. The wire is a tight to the
perfect celluloid. The plain blade is bright and shiny, grading near mint
with a deep black maker mark. The scabbard is dented the reverse being
worse than the obverse. The black paint shows age and crazing
and rates 97%. A nice detailed sword at a bargain price. Last one I saw
was offer at well over $3k!Exc+/Exc++ $1695
 SW-138 Triple Etched Personalized
WKC
Here's a really interesting sword. This example is an Weimar period blade
that's been period rehilted. This guy must have had an etched sword and
when the Nazi's took over he was "born again" if I may say. Upon "seeing
the light" he took his sword in and had it rehilted to the Nazi hilt. The plated blade
is triple etched with a motif including cannons and a complex array of oak
leaved etc. The etching continues about ½ way down the blade. It does show
some sharpening and rates
Exc+ being bright and clean right with just light evidence of use. The blade is stamped with the
Weimar period side by side WKC maker mark. I assume he or the family chose
Klaas do do the remounting cause the hilt is a Klaas model 232. This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's
reference pg 100. The black enamel painted scabbard has a small impression
to the lower obverse about 2" up from the drag.
Other than a bit of chipping to the drag and on the carry ring the paint
is mint. Now I believe the scabbard is a period repaint, likely done when
the sword was taken in for remounting. It's the best repaint I've seen and
it looks to be a factory job. This is a brass based example. The top of the hilt covers the tang with
like only the factory can do. The "P" guard has
a oak leaf motif with lots of details. This pattern is continued on the
back-strap and the ferrule. The obverse languet
features a closed wing Wehrmacht style eagle. Best of all the reverse
has a set of beautifully engraved intertwined, (likely factory done)
initials "AJ". These are in the style of the period. The grip is black celluloid and
shows a very hard to see wax repair of two cracks the very top near the intersection
of the P-guard and the pommel. You will have to go looking to find it. It is wrapped with a
triple aluminium wire. Exc+ $750
 SW-118 WMW Panther-head
with built-in ferrel Most certainly the best
pattern WMW made! This sword is is featured on pg 142 and
144 of Angolia's Swords reference. Made in the Art Deco style of the
time the Nazi national eagle clutching the Swas. is HUGE!- certainly
twice the standard size. See how the crossguard negates the requirement for a
ferrule? Neat. Cast in
solid brass the whole thing is a wonderful example of the hand enhancing that took
place on these early swords. The "P" guard has a 3d oak-leaf
motif with all the wee features hand chased. Under a glass you can see
the veins and the acorn caps with hammered details.. The back-strap continues this same theme,
the more you look the more you see! The end of the guard
terminates with a small lion head. Finally these guys took the
time to disguise the end of the tang by chiseling in
panther hair into a small brass plug! The grip is black celluloid and is
in perfect condition being wrapped with triple brass wire wrap. The wire is a
tight to the black celluloid. The plain nickel blade is bright and shiny,
grading near mint with a deep maker mark. I found
one tiny nick to the mid section of the blade. It's nothing.
The scabbard is undented. The black paint shows age and crazing and rates 98%. A nice detailed
early sword that is very rare. Exc++ $1625
 SW-148 Voo's Lion-head Great sword with
two cast eagles and nice gilt. The plated blade rates
Exc+ being bright but suffering some tiny dots of age and some nicks to
the cutting edge. Not bad but you can find them if you feel for them. No pitting bends or
sharpening. The blade is stamped with the Voo's maker mark, sorry this one
is impossible to photograph.
This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 128 and is unattributed as to model #. The black enamel painted scabbard has good paint with a bit of crazing and scratches from
honest wear. Say
the paint is better than 96%. There is what looks like a factory
drilled hole in the drag, not sure of it's purpose, if you know please do
share. There is a small dent right at the drag reverse that I clearly
show. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with the usual hand
enhanced detail to lion's head. The "P" guard has
a deeply cast oak leaves that frame a nice Wehrmacht eagle. This pattern
is continued everywhere including the ferrule, back-strap and P-guard. The
obverse languet features a hand enhanced open-winged eagle. Look at
how all the highlights if this sword are polished and gilt, right down to
the Swas's!! I love it. Both ruby colored glass eyes are intact. The grip is black celluloid
that is chip and crack free. It is wrapped with triple
brass wire. Finishing the sword is it's original never removed troddle. it's frayed but quite serviceable. Exc++ $625
 SW-135 Alcoso Model 119 Lion
-head Great sword with a dramatic eagle! The plated blade rates
NM being bright and clean right with just a
few light scuffs toward to lower reverse. You will have to turn the blade
just so in the light to find them. The blade is stamped with the
early Alcoso maker mark.
This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 64 and
known as Model 119. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free.
It has good paint with much a bit of crazing and scratches from
honest wear. Say
the paint is better than 97%. This is a brass based example with some wear to the high
areas. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with hand
enhanced detail to lion's head. The "P" guard has
an oak leaf and acorn motif. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule, back-strap and P-guard. The obverse languet
features a open-winged eagle. The grip is black celluloid and is in
perfect shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped with triple
brass wire. Nicely finishing this one is a large knot that has
the strap broke under the hilt so I include it for free. You could repair
this but you will not find
this unless you go searching and it looks great for display. Exc++ $599

 SW-143 Eickhorn Model 1715
An interesting pattern.
The plated blade rates Exc+ being bright and clean right with dots of
age to the blade. The blade is stamped with the mid period Eickhorn maker mark.
A similar pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 80 and
known as Model 1715. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free.
It has good paint with scratches from Honest wear, say
the paint is better than 95%. This is a brass based example with some wear to the high
areas. The top of the hilt has a dome-top cast there. The "P" guard has
an oak leaf and acorn motif. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule, back-strap and P-guard. The obverse languet
features two crossed sabers. This one has good gilding and nice polished
highlights. The grip is black celluloid and has a crack
to the upper obverse. It is wrapped with triple aluminum wire that really stands out against the black
celluloid. Finishing the sword is a beauty portepee that in in minty
condition. Finally this example differs from the illustrated example in
that the top of the hilt has a dome as opposed to the illustrated Wehrmacht eagle. These
also came with a lion head. As with many makers Eickhorn mixed and matched
components to customize to customer needs. A good
example. Exc+ $349
 SW-136 Hörster Wehrmacht Pattern
I really like these engraved swords. A ton of work went into them. The plated blade rates
NM being bright and clean right with just a
few light scuffs. You will have to turn the blade
just so in the light to find them. The blade is stamped with the
mid-period Hörster maker mark. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free.
It has lots of wear from honest wear the worse being to the mid-obverse. This is a brass based example with some wear to the high
areas. The top of the hilt covers the tang with hand
enhanced details. The "P" guard has
an oak leaf and acorn motif- again all engraved. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule and back-strap. The obverse languet
features a closed wing Wehrmacht style eagle. The grip is black celluloid and is in
perfect shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped with brass wire. If
you look at the intersection of the crossguard and ferrule there is the
remnants of a finger guard. Nicely finishing this one is a minty mid
period knot. Exc++ $425
SW-137 Höller Model 61 with Flat
Bow
Desirable pattern. The plated blade rates
NM being bright and clean right with just light evidence of use, a
few light scuffs. The blade is stamped with the
Höller maker mark. This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg
97 and known as Model 61. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free.
It has moderate wear from honest use the worse being to the mid-reverse
and I have pictured this. This is a brass based example with all the
highlights factory polished. Much factory gilt remains. The top of the hilt covers the tang with hand
enhanced details. The "P" guard has
a geometric motif with lots of swirls. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule and back-strap. Almost Art-deco. The obverse languet
features a closed wing Wehrmacht style eagle. The grip is black celluloid and
shows a very hard to see wax repair to the very top near the intersection
of the P-guard and the pommel. You will have to go looking to find it. It is wrapped with a
triple brass wire. Exc++ $450
 SW-140 R
D. Lüneschloss Lion
-head Great sword with a early SS/SA style eagle. The plated blade rates
Mint- being bright and clean right with no pitting bends or damage of any
kind. The blade is stamped with the
Lüneschloss maker mark.
This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 109 and is
unattributed as to model #. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free.
It has good paint with much a bit of crazing and scratches from
honest wear. Say
the paint is better than 98%. This is a brass based example with some wear to the high
areas. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with the usual hand
enhanced detail to lion's head. The "P" guard has
a deeply cast oak leaf and acorn motif. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule, back-strap and P-guard. The obverse languet
features a hand enhanced open-winged eagle. Compare this to the early
SA/SS
cap eagle and you'll see what I mean. Both ruby
colored glass eyes are intact. The grip is black celluloid
looks to me to have had some repair work long ago just below the lion's
chin. It is wrapped with triple
brass wire. Exc++ $645 Layaway(ji)
 SW-144 E. Pack Model
542 Leopard-head This is the
second model 542 I've owned and like all Pack product this was made to the
highest standards. The plated blade rates
Exc being bright with a couple nicks to the cutting edge that I have shown
clearly. The tip has been repointed at some time. The blade is stamped with the
famous maker mark.
This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 111 The black enamel painted scabbard
has a tiny dent that you can feel with your fingers ½ way down the
reverse. It's nothing. It has ok paint with much a bit of crazing,
oxidation and scratches from
honest wear. Say
the paint is better than 90%. This is a brass based example with some wear to the high
areas. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with the usual hand
enhanced detail to leopard's head. The "P" guard has
a deeply cast oak leaf and acorn motif. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule, back-strap and P-guard. The obverse languet
features a hand enhanced closed-winged eagle. Both ruby colored glass
eyes are intact. The grip is black celluloid
and is chip and crack-free. Tt is wrapped with triple brass wire.
Finishing this example is a tattered and repaired portepee that I include
for free. Exc+ $420

This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 81 and
known as Model 1734. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent-free. It

rubbed in wear, say
the paint is better than 99%. These Zieten patterns are very
desirable with a huge hilt. This one has very good gilt remaining. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with hand
enhanced detail to the lion's hair. The flat bow "P" guard has
an oak leaf and swirl motif. This pattern is continued everywhere
including the ferrule and back-strap. The obverse languet

right with a wee bit of plating loss right near the tip. The blade is

one is unusual as the blade has been reassembled into a Nazi era hilt. Why
and when? Who knows such things happened in the era. Perhaps the guy what
at some point promoted and had an attachment to his sword and requested it
be rehilted. Of course I do not know for sure, I wasn't there but that's
my best guess. Should you choose this piece you will have to live with
that. Cast of solid aluminum the hilt is a beauty with much hand enhanced
detail. The hilt is damage free with the exception of a scuff across
the reverse swastika. The tang is expertly worked into the top and again
hand peaned over and detailed with feathering at was typical of the era. The double
fullered plated blade rates Exc+ being
bright with some evidence of age and some nicks. There is no maker mark I
can find. The buffer is intact. This hilt pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference
pg 263. The black glossy enamel repainted scabbard has just the
lightest evidence of use. There are
no dents. I would say the paint is better than 99%. Wonderful evil head design
is all hand chased. The "P" guard has
deeply detailed feather pattern similar to that of the back-strap
continuing down from the bird head. The obverse languet features a
raised-out long-winged political-style eagle. The grip is painted aluminum
with aa few scuffs but without chips or cracks. It is wrapped
with triple brass wire. There are 2 partial strands missing
from the lower section. This might be your only opportunity to ever own
this design. Missing from most collections and available here at a bargain. Exc+ $799

Prison
 SW-121 Clemen & Jung
Prison Official's Saber Absolutely stunning pattern sword. Just imagine
for one second what this sword has seen and the fear surrounding it. These Prison Officials
held the power of life and death every day. This one is from my
personal collection where it has resided for at least 5 years. This pattern Prison sword may
well be the most ornate of all
the 3rd Reich pieces and certainly the most ornate of all
the Prison officials. Cast of solid aluminum and then gilt it has
99.% of the factory gilt finish. It's all hand enhanced and finally lacquered,
lots of time and care went into these. The plated blade rates Mint- being
bright and clean right with no plating loss, gray or anything else to
make excuses about. This blade is double marked with the
C&J shield to the obverse and the entire name
spelled out on the other side. Sorry it's near impossible to
photograph up and under there but trust me, it's there. This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference
pg 263. The black glossy enamel painted scabbard has just the
lightest evidence of use. There are
no dents. It has original paint is better than 99%. Wonderful evil head design
is all hand chased, even the tang has been covered
up with hand work! The only wear to the gilt I
can find is to the top of the eagle-head. The "P" guard has
deeply detailed feather pattern similar to that of the back-strap
continuing down from the bird head. The obverse languet features a
raised-out long-winged political-style eagle. The grip is black celluloid
and is in perfect shape without chips or cracks. It is wrapped
with triple brass wire. Included is a beauty original
Prison Official portepee. These in themselves are rare. A
beauty design missing from most collections. NM $4999 Layaway(wb)
Luftwaffe
SW-124 Early Heibig Luftwaffe
Sword
Early example in solid nickel. This one has an Exc++ blade. The engraved 1st pattern maker
mark is correctly executed just below a waffen approval stamp. This mark can be seen
in Whitty's Luftwaffe reference pg 70. No sharpening, graying or pitting,
there are a couple odd scuffs but nothing major. The blade
is seated through a partial blue leather washer into the crossguard. The hilt fittings
are all early silver washed nickel with wonderful patina. The
grip is double wire wrapped in copper springy
wire used early in production. There are scuffs and wear to
the grip. There are no dents to the
scabbard body or the nickel fittings however there is some leather
loss at the seam that has been covered up with blue shoe
polish. Pommel is correctly hand enhanced with wee oak leaves and acorns. The leather
is original with 95% coverage to both the grip and the scabbard. Scabbard screws are
all present. All the patina matches. Finally one of the
scabbard rings has been reattached along the
way. When? who knows but from the patina it was
long ago and possibly period. The hanger is original and in
fine shape. Not mint but still very collectible. Overall

Japanese

SW-147 Japanese
Type 95 Army NCO
Sword
Here's a great piece directly
from the Vet's family in N.C. This one has a NM machine made blade. It is
correctly serialized and of course matches the scabbard. After the serial
number there is a Kokura TO inspectors stamp. No sharpening, graying or pitting,
there are a couple odd scuffs and just the most minor of age. The blade
is seated through a multi-piece inspection marked collar with
the tang secured with a single brass dome-head male female screw system.
The grip is cast aluminum similar to the 1934 pattern Army Officer's shin-gunto.
The paint is worn to the high areas yet is still 80% overall. There are no dents to the
scabbard body and good paint is retained with loss consistent with honest
wear. Not mint but still very collectible. Overall
