Reference Book

Exploring the Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS
Quite simply the best reference book available on the subject.  I am offering this new book with the order of any dagger at my cost. Why am I doing this? Quite simply because I believe that knowledgeable customers will keep coming back to buy from me. I also consider educated collectors an asset to the hobby in general.
With a dagger order $105  The book alone $120+$20shipping

Him-7 SS Honor Dagger
A wonderful example I am proud to be able to offer to the collecting community. This is one of the nicest Himmler Honor daggers I have been able to offer in my life as a dealer. The blade is a minty example with excellent crossgrain. There's the odd light scratch and light runner marks.  There is no pitting, sharpening or retipping. Motto is nice and crisp. All the etching is equal in color and depth. The blade rates Mint-. It is has a very good fit to the lower crossguard. Dent-free scabbard has original anodizing and amazingly 98%+ of original lacquer. The only loss appears to be a few dots of oxidation to the upper reverse close to the fitting. The fittings themselves show the lightest of period wear, the ball is perfect. The fittings are nickel-silver retaining all their screws. Solid hardwood grip is in fine shape being chip and crack free. Eagle is perfectly fit with a some minor patina. Roundel retains 100% of enamel. The handle shoulders and radii nicely fit the solid nickel guards. Speaking of the crossguards look how every groove has been hand chased! Sweet, and exactly what I would expect on these. The lower crossguard is bench-marked "2". All the patina matches everywhere.  All the fits are there! This in an investment piece that will be the pride of someone's collecton Overall Mint-

SS-190 Full Rohm Eickhorn SS
A rare beast for sure and not for the faint of heart!! Guys if you are going to make the jump into one of these buy it from a certified dealer, even if it's not me! You will sleep better. I am very pleased to be able to offer this example that was turned up in Germany last month.  Blade is a good example with good crossgrainin. There's minor age and runner marks.  There is no pitting, sharpening or retipping. Motto is nice and crisp. All the etching is equal in color and depth. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It is has a good fit to the lower crossguard and the witness marks on the guard attest that the blade is original to the guard. Dent-free scabbard has original anodizing and amazingly 95%+ of original lacquer. The fittings show light period wear, the ball is perfect. I of course have provided you with the worse views I can. The fittings are nickel-silver retaining all their screws. Solid hardwood grip is in fine shape having a wee chip above the roundel and small hairliner to the lower left on the reverse. Eagle is perfectly fit with a some black patina. Roundel retains 100% of enamel. The handle shoulders and radii nicely fit the solid nickel "HE" marked guards. Speaking of the crossguards look how every groove has been hand chased! Sweet, and exactly what I would expect on an early Eickhorn. The lower crossguard is bench-marked "0". Ok, now look at the way the vertical hanger has left wee wear marks on the reverse of the grip. I love to see this and it certainly speaks to the fact that this thing has always been together. All the patina matches everywhere.  All the fits are there! Another great feature of this dagger is that it is not all scratched up and the nut buggered cause everybody and their uncle has given it a hysterectomy! The lower guard is serialized "28967" to a very naughty Dr Helmut Schmitt. Though he was a doctor, he received EK II Class, KVK II Class with Schw. and the Ostmedaille for service of Russia 1941/42 and ended the war in the Waffen-SS serving with a SS 14th Grenadier Panzer Division (records have him through October 1944). Included with this purchase is 4 photo's of him, some of his wife and lots of papers including a Race and Resettlement file, and NSDAP party papers. Oh, and at least one of the photos has him with a SS dagger. He wasn't just stuck in hospital on the homefront with the Allgemeine SS. I do owe many thanks to Ross Kelbaugh for his dedication and time spent on this project. I recommend his services highly  http://www.ss-numbers.com/ Finally, and yes I'm almost done, Noted Author John Fisher was over last week and loved the dagger and photographed it so it well may appear in the next edition of Fisher's Reference. What else could you ask for in a SS full Rohm?Overall Exc++

SS-180 Herder Ground Rohm SS with some Personality
Well hunting at this year's SOS was very tough when it came to SS daggers. Many were "messed with". This one is exactly like I try to buy 'em. Very clean blade  has that crisp frosted motto. It's been cleaned along the way and almost all the crossgrain is intact . Perfect point with no sharpening, no pitting just some light gray age. The entire Rohm dedication has been erased. Rates Exc++. The solid nickel fittings are textbook with the lower being district stamped "I". The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. The grip is a nice slim Herder with no chips and only the smallest hair line running up from the runes button to the guard and another at the lower crossguard. Sounds bad, it's not anything to be concerned about and most would not find this without an eye loop. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel.  There is 99% anodized surface intact with some surface oxidation. No dents to the body however there is some evidence of honest wear. The ball is banged to the one side.  The fittings themselves are nickel silver with patina matching the crossguards. It all fits nice with that "snap" collectors love to hear when it it comes together! All the screws are intact. Finally as a bonus this one comes with it's own vertical hanger. This hanger is pre-RZM home made example showing some age. The clip is a early thin snout nickel example. The hanger has never been off he dagger in 70 years. The hanger shows some verdigris next to the nickel. Interestingly the hanger was put on backwards! with the ring being to the left when observed from the front, (to be fair to him the "textbook" was not printed yet :>). Of course this never mattered cause the guy used the vertical hanger! Neat to see wee details like this. Lastly the pommel nut on this has never been turned, a rarity on SS daggers today! So nice to find an honest example in the sea of "played with daggers" in this market!  Overall Exc++

SS-188 "Textbook" Early Böker
Well I find selling SS daggers is becoming more challenging as time goes on. The fakes are getting better and some days it seems paranoia reigns! Heres a nice original specimin that will never cost you one wink of sleep. Featured in a one page spread in Wittmann's reference pg 590. Blade is an excellent example with that deep black motto and maker mark mark everyone wants. Excellent crossgrain remains. The reverse shows minor age around the maker mark. but no pitting or major nasties. Looks like it has been lightly cleaned at some point and certainly grades Exc++.  Displays all the characteristics of early maker marked pieces to include the "I" stamped on the reverse crossguard indicating district of issue. Blade perfectly fits the crossguard. The fittings are all nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. The grip is a flawless hardwood variety with no chips or cracks. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the rune s have 100% of enamel. The  dent-free scabbard has the anodized finish removed/worn off. I am so tempted to have this professionally reblued this that I'm listing it before I do it!! The  fittings show light period wear and the ball is perfect. None of the screws are turned. The scabbard has no gaps to the lower crossguard. It fits perfectly with a nice snap. Look at the accoutrements that come with this thing!! Shoot the early 2 pc short hanger is worth $400! They are near unobtainable!! A textbook dagger with very special accoutrements that is featured in a book!! If you can forgive the scabbard you have a wonderful piece. Overall Exc++

SS-163 Boker SS
A reasonably priced example by the most desirable of all SS makers! Blade shows minor age in the form of some light age gray. Motto and maker mark show a nice dark contrast to the blade. The motto is dark gray not the black motto we sometimes see on Bokers. Perfect point with no sharpening. Good crossgrain remains. Exc+. The fittings are all nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "I" the most usual district mark on a Boker. The grip is a nice heavy crack free Boker with just a wee bit of flaking to the top crossguard fit to the left of the runes. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel.  The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches.  The finish has been "helped along". I can smell the chemical blue. No biggie but of couse I mention it. The ball has a minor hit. No dents to the body and the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver with patina matching the crossguards. It all fits perfectly, exactly what you would expect from these guys! Overall conservatively Exc+

SS-191 Puma RZM 1052/38/SS
Well I get lots of guys telling me they just want one that's unmessed with!! Here is is. A rare RZM these were just recently attributted to Pumawerk (Lauterjung & Sohn), Solingen
or better know to those in the hobby as just "Puma" after a tagged example surfaced a year or so ago. Listed in Wittmanns reference pg 162 you can pencil in Puma beside it. I was fortunate enough to purchase this from the Veterans family. This was liberated following the fall of Paris. The blade is very nice having excellent crossgrain and a nice burnished motto. Exc++. Blade grows out of the crossguard it's so well fit. These guards are nickel plated with lots of flakimg and lifting. The grip is in nice shape only having some flakes toward the lower obverse crossguard. The pot metal eagle is oxidized and the runes have darkened somewhat. The grip fits the crossguards well. D ent-free scabbard has pretty good original paint with oxidizing and crazing the worse being to the obverse. The scabbard fittings have some oxidation that I have not tried to clean up. The  fittings are all matching and the ball is near perfect.  It fits perfectly with a nice snap. All the screws are intact. An original SS that's never been taken down. Exc+

SS-189 RZM 1196/38
Here's a very decent example of a SS that will not put you in the poor house. Back to me on an upgrade deal. Examples can be seen in Wittmann's reference pg 172. The blade is nice and bright it has been heavily cleaned and all crossgrain is gone. In the cleaning the bottom of the motto has been severely lightened. It sounds worse than it is. I grade this blade Exc/Exc+. Blade practically grows out of the crossguard it's so well fit. These guards are nickel plated with minor thinning and a few scratches but most of the plating is intact. The grip is in nice shape being free of chips or cracks. The aluminum eagle in the grip is well fit and the runes enamel is perfect. The grip fits the crossguards well. Dent-free scabbard has excellent original paint with just the lightest evidence of wear and light crazing. The  fittings show matching light period wear and the ball is perfect. All patina matches the crossguards. It fits perfectly with a nice snap. All the screws are intact. A nice original SS. Exc+

SS-169 Transitional Henckels SS
Well here's a very tough mark to find. The 1939 variant Henckels used. The blade is hurtin' some having suffered extensive cleaning and buffing. Too bad cause the motto and maker mark are lightened severely. There are only traces of crossgrain remaining. There us some evidence of pitting to the reverse. Blade rates Exc. Blade is well fit to crossguard. These guards are nickel plated with just a bit of lifting and the usual normal small dings and wear. T he grip is in nice shape being free of chips and hairlines. The aluminum eagle in the grip is well fit and the runes enamel is perfect. The grip fits the crossguards well. D ent-free scabbard has original paint with wear scratches and paint loss, say 85-90% paint. The  fittings show matching light period wear and the ball has suffered a minor bruise. All patina matches. It fits perfectly with a nice snap. All the screws are intact. A nice original SS with a rare maker mark. Exc+

SS-192 Klittermann & Moog G.m.b.H., RZM 7/29
Wow rare as heck and I'm so happy to be able to offer this to our collecting community. This maker chose to use an exclaimation mark after the motto. Why? who knows, some respected folks in the collecting community have suggested these were awarded. Me, I don't know. What I do know is that the blade is a screamer. Examples can be seen in Wittmann's reference pg 163/164. The blade is nice and bright with good crossgrain. There is some minor age but nothing major. It sounds worse than it is. I grade this blade an easy Exc++. Blade grows out of the crossguard it's so well fit. These guards are solid nickel as I would expect from these guys. It is not district marked- none of them are. The grip is in nice shape being free of chips or cracks. There are small marks and hits from normal period wear and a small rub in an upper corner I clearly show. The nickel eagle is well fit and the runes enamel is perfect. The grip fits the crossguards well. Dent-free scabbard has excellent original paint with just the lightest evidence of wear and light crazing. The nickel fittings show matching light period wear and the ball is crushed. The period paint is well worn. In my experience most of these K&M dagger have all nickel fittings with a factory painted finish, unusual yes but IMHO quite right. Look at that hanger, it's been on there forever and impossible to remove. Absolutely period. All patina matches. Everything fits perfectly with a nice snap. All the screws are intact. A nice original SS that has never been apart, and the hanger's never been off. Please do not take this down, daggers like this just are not out there anymore. I have to wade through a lot of junk to find examples like this. Exc++
