HJ Knives

HJ-283 Early Puma HJ Knife
This blade retains original shape with no signs of sharpening, but evidence of light use, not abuse and cleaning. The motto is somewhat lightened. The manufacturer and their logo are deeply stamped to the reverse. Buffer was lost when I got it some I replaced it, you would not know had I not told you. Blade is Exc+. Fittings are plated steel with 99% of the original plating intact. There is some evidence of hits and marks from wear. The grip plates are the early stretch type. Early nickel rivets this one. The wiggly diamond is perfect. Painted scabbard has lots of wear and again small marks and hits, about 25% of original paint remains. The black leather shows age and wear but is still supple. Exc+

HJ-271  Early Hugo Köller HJ Knife
Here's one for you guys who appreciate a nice blade. This blade retains original shape with absolutely no sharpening and 95% of the factory crossgrain intact. There is some minor age spotting. I've tried hard to give you the worse possible views. The manufacturer and their logo are deeply stamped to the reverse. Original buffer is intact. Blade is Exc++. Fittings are plated steel with 90% of the original plating intact. Undamaged grip plates are well fit and secured with unbuggered rivets. The wiggly diamond is perfect. Painted scabbard has crazing and retains 95%+ of original paint. The thick brown leather shows the lightest wear. Exc++/NM

HJ-286 Early Eickhorn HJ Knife

Here's an early variation that you rarely see. An early no riccasso blade with a motto. Blade shows age and sharpening. Blade is a VG example. Look at the early Eick. maker mark, I love all the early variations of these. The maker mark is stamped nice and deep to the reverse.  Fittings are plated steel with 98%+ of the original plating intact, just some loss from normal wear. Early stretch grip plates are secured with early brass rivets. The small size wiggly diamond is perfect. Black scabbard leather is supple and fully functioning. The body itself shows wear and lots of small scratches. It is undented. Exc

HJ-235 Transitional Tiger HJ Knife
Always in demand people for some reason love this maker. Blade shows evidence of cleaning with fine scratches running longitudinally down the blade. The tip has also been slightly blunted. Rates Exc+  The maker mark is perfectly stamped to the mid portion of the blade. and RZM designation is stamped to the riccasso. Original buffer is intact. Fittings are plated zinc showing wear and 90% of the original plating intact. Grip plates are well fit and secured with steel rivets. The wiggly diamond is perfect. Black scabbard leather is all intact and supple but a bit limp. The glossy paint shows honest period wear. The snap functions quite fine. Exc+

HJ-287 Transitional WKC HJ Knife
It's been a while since I've had a transitional WKC, they made a nice product. This blade is bright and clean with a good deep black maker mark. There's no evidence of sharpening and the tip has been repaointed. You would never know but I do cause I'm anal about this stuff. Just the lightest of age grey but look there's still crossgrain!! Factory buffer is intact. Blade is Exc+. Fittings are plated zincl with 99% of the original plating intact. There is some evidence of hits and marks from wear. The grip plates are perfect as is the diamond. Repainted scabbard has wear with lots of small scratches, from the wear I would say this is a period repaint. The black leather is in good strong shape. This is a very decent HJ. Exc+

HJ-285 Transitional Pack HJ Knife
It's been a while since I've been able to pick up a nice transitional like this. This blade is nice and clean with a good dark motto, there's a couple marks towards the tip on the cutting edge but they are smooth and there's no evidence of sharpening. Just the lightest of age grey. The manufacturer and their logo are deeply stamped to the reverse. Take a second and go back and look at the RZM designation, see how it's etched, and not stamped? Due to the RZM rules coming into place in 1936, Pack was required to etch this on existing stock blades to be in compliance when selling these. Very interesting. Factory buffer is intact. Blade is Exc++. Fittings are plated steel with 99.9% of the original plating intact. There is some evidence of hits and marks from wear to include some taps to the reverse of the pommel. The grip plates are perfect as is the wiggly diamond. Painted scabbard has minimal wear with 99% of the paint intact. The brown leather is in good strong shape. This is a super knife that will not last. Exc++

HJ-238 Interesting Personalized RZM 7/51 Transitional Anton Wingen HJ Knife
It's really rare to find personalized HJ's. Very likely a gift from the family upon the recipient's completion of the HJ requirements to carry one's own knife. This one is well work but still has some interesting features. The blade shows wear, spotting and has been slightly shortened. Ok, I say that and the motto is still nice and clear. The reverse is maker marked RZM 7/51 with the year of manufacture. Below this on the riccasso is the owners name "W. Schumann" deeply engraved. I thought that this might be a distributor but through going through all my references that it not a distributor so therefore is the owners name. Blade is a Exc example. Original black buffer is intact. Fittings are plated steel with 97% of the original plating intact, just some loss from normal wear exactly where I like to see it- on the pommel area where the retaining strap holds the knife in its scabbard. Grip plates are secured with nickel rivets and there is a wee chip to the reverse next to the finger guard. The diamond is near perfect with a sliver of enamel loss you will need a lop to find. Brown leather scabbard leather shows wear but is all intact and supple. The snap cap is well marked. The scabbard body shows heavy paint wear and I'm 75% sure this is a repaint. If it is it's definitely period. An interesting example! Exc
