Here's an
unmarked example. The long thin plated pipe backed blade
shows wear and age. The scabbard is a steel mounted,
leather bodied example. The leather shows minor age and scuffs and could
use a treatment with wax to dress it up. There are two dressed
lines running down both sides in the German tradition. All the stitches
are tight and intact. The nickel
scalloped edge fittings are assembled to the leather with staples. These fitting show
light age. They are dent
free. Grooved two piece oak grip plates are chip and crack-free
and secured with spanner bolts. These two piece plates date the bayo as
being produced some time between 1902 and the switch over to the
S98/05 that started approx 1905. The hilt has wear and evidence of use. The hilt is
plated. Finally the frog is beat but it's there so I include it. Exc+
