![]() BA-103 Late-war K98 by Pack Here's a nice example of a late-war production K98 combat bayonet. Blade is a blued example that has an excellent finish. Love it! It retains 97% of the factory bluing and is free of sharpening. Other than honest in/out marks all the blue is there. If you look close the tip has a very slight bend. Take a second and look at the coarse blade finish. Compare this to the quality finishes on an early production blade!! At this stage of production the focus was getting product out the door, most of the production stampinging and finishing processes were eliminated. Shoot in 1944 the Allies had landed in France and the bombs were raining down over Germany every night!! The blade is "44 cul" stamped indicating 1944 manufacture. The "cul" code was Pack's designation. It is serialized 7199 matching the scabbard. Don't know why but seems the later the production the tougher it becomes to find matching pieces. Brown bakelite grip plates are perfect, just light honest wear. The scabbard shows excellent anodizing and is completely dent free. The single side screw is intact and unbuggered. Again guys look at the welded seam running down the side!! Can't you just picture the older employees from the early quality days rolling their eyes as this stuff went out the door! You never seen this stuff on early pieces! Very cool. Rates Exc++ $325 ![]() BA-104 K98 by Mundlos Here's a good honest K98 combat bayonet. Blade is a quality blued example with a deep black finish. It retains 90% of the factory bluing with wear and evidence of use towards the tip. It is unsharpened there are however a couple, (that means 2) nicks to the cutting edge. The blade is "40" stamped indicating 1940 manufacture. It is serialized 8951 matching the scabbard. As with most of the early ones this this is inspection stamped no less than 4 times! Black bakelite grip plates are chip and crack-free. Hilt does show ozidizing and age. The scabbard shows original anodizing and oxidizing to the finish. It is completely dent free. The single side screw is intact and unbuggered. Finally the well worn 1943 marked 4 rivet frog is included. I know some guys like to see the frogs matching the years of bayo manufacture. They don't all match, who knows why could have been replaced along the way. What I do know if that this one has been there a long time. All the stitching is intact. Rates Exc+ $160 ![]() BA-105 K98 by Eickhorn Blade is a blued example with a deep black finish. It retains 98% of the factory bluing with wear and evidence of use towards the tip. It is unsharpened the tip however is blunted. The blade is "cof 43" stamped indicating 1943 manufacture This matches the scabbard. It is serialized 3504 which does NOT match the scabbard. The crossguard is also stamped 3413. I assume this one has been reissued. Ok, just so I'm real clear. What I'm saying here is that the bayo and scabbard are both Eickhorn 1943 manufacture however they were not factory issued together and have been put together later at some point. Lastly there is an old frog included. The frog is completely beat, ripped and stitching torn. I'm including it for free and dispite being in poor shape it's better than nothing!Rates Exc+ $90 ![]() BA-99 matching? K98 Well some stuff comes in an I just don't know what to make of it. This one is such an example. The Blade is S/177 marked indicating manufacture by Friedrich A. Herder und Sohn. However the scabbard is stamped Eickhorn. The odd thing here guys is the the scabbard and blade have matching numbers's. My conclusion is that it's been reissued. I know an issue for people is when? I do not know and if anyone out there can help me I would appreciate it. Blade is a quality blued example that has that is stamped 37 for the year of issue. It retains 99% of the bluing and the original tip. It is serialized 2966 matching the scabbard however the scabbard is stamped in a different font.. As with most of the early ones this this is inspection stamped no less than 4 times! Brown wood grip plates are perfect, a few light scratches on the flash guard but that's it. The scabbard shows wear but is completely dent free. The single side screw is intact and unbuggered. Finally the well marked frog has the top stitches ripper, likely from people like me trying to figure out the markings!!
